Jeena Raghavan’s work reflects the diverse cultural influences and experiences that have shaped her life. Born in England and raised in India from the age of six, she later moved to New York City to study at the Parsons School of Design, where she further developed her artistic practice. This international background informs much of her work, which often explores themes of identity, belonging, and self-reflection.

Her artistic journey began at a young age, with her first exhibition taking place in London at just 13 years old. This early experience, where she raised funds for charity through a series of paintings centered on the Indian deity Ganesha, set the stage for her continued exploration of art as both a personal and cultural expression.

Raghavan’s work is characterized by vibrant color palettes and intricate patterns, employing a figurative visual language combined with abstract layering techniques. Her paintings often function as self-portraits, each one representing a specific moment or experience in her life. This approach allows her to document her experiences living in New York City as a young Indian woman, navigating the complexities of a new environment while staying connected to her roots.

A significant aspect of the artist's process is her focus on flora and fauna, exploring the psychological similarities between humans and animals. Her interest lies in the raw and unfiltered ways that animals express emotion, which she incorporates into her work through the depiction of various creatures like foxes, bulls, and horses. These elements, combined with her use of bold colors and abstract backgrounds, create layered compositions that invite viewers to engage with the underlying themes of her work.

Her achievements in the art world are reflected in numerous exhibitions. Over the past year, she has participated in 14 shows across New York City, with additional exhibitions in Madrid and an upcoming show in Venice. Her work has been featured in prominent galleries such as Santana Art Gallery in Spain, Prive in NYC, Revelation Gallery, and Landmark Art Space. Additionally, she had the opportunity to display a painting at the Indian Consulate in New York.
